The phones go on sale April 21, pre-orders start March 30. Now, Microsoft hopes to capitalize on the success of the device, by introducing a Galaxy S8 Microsoft Edition.
According to The Verge, the Galaxy S8 will be able to capture eight-megapixel photos with an f/1.7 lens with auto-focus capabilities, have fast face scanning recognition, the ability to give its owners a "desktop experience", called DeX. Included in this suite is Microsoft's Office, OneDrive, Cortana, Outlook "and more".
The release comes at a crucial time for Samsung. Instead, this Microsoft Edition will simply install several Microsoft-made apps from the Google Play App Store. The Samsung Galaxy S8 Microsoft Edition is apparently available for preorders at Microsoft's USA retail stores as of today. They will only be available in AT&T or Verizon flavors for now.
Two models are offered-the Galaxy S8 with a 6.2-inch screen and the Galaxy S8 Plus with a 5.8-inch screen, offering Samsung's largest wrap-around screens to date. One thing that isn't really new, however, is the camera on the back of the phone.
In the USA the phones are running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processors while in other countries it will sport Samsung's own Exynos octa-core chip.
