Bergeron's surgery was to fix a sports hernia injury, while Rask underwent a right groin procedure.

Patrice Bergeron (sports hernia) and Tuukka Rask (right groin surgery) both underwent successful procedures this week and are expected to be ready for next season, the team announced.

"With the schedule, it was definitely something that was nagging and it was there for most of the year", Bergeron said of the hernia.

For Rask, though, the groin surgery comes as a bit of a surprise - especially given his ability to pull the Bruins through four overtime games in their ultimately unsuccessful series against the Ottawa Senators.

Bergeron wrapped up a somewhat lackluster season for himself scoring wise with an impressive campaign nonetheless.

Bergeron scored 21 goals and 53 points in 79 games, hogging the puck often enough to become a Selke finalist once again.

Rask put up a 37-20-5 record this season with a 2.23 goals-against average and a 0.915 save percentage with eight shutouts.

Rask, on the other hand, had a fairly normal season by his standards.
