The Spurs missed out on a win when Patty Mills buzzer-beating effort did land in the basket, but it went in just outside regulation. If the Spurs lose, they will still have a chance to close out the series on their own home court. But they had it tough, too, and they're missing Nene, too.
Manu, at age 39, is the second-oldest player in the National Basketball Association (behind Vince Carter, 40, of the Memphis Grizzlies) Manu's been playing professional ball since 1995, joining the Andino Sport Club team in his native country of Argentina. "Two All-Stars and even Pau (Gasol), who is 7-foot-something". You are throwing your body on the line in those situations. It would also make sense to have superstar Kawhi Leonard take the ball to the rack early and often. He had injured his ankle and Gregg Popovich was most likely making sure he didn't hurt it anymore. Plus, I'd like to see the Warriors get pushed in the West final so they're softened up a little bit more when they face a well-rested Cleveland team in the NBA Finals. Or it was Mills throwing himself on the ground after a loose ball with 10 seconds left in the game. Though Leonard re-entered the game for a brief stretch, Ginobili carried the load of the No. 1 scoring option down the stretch. For one thing, it's following in the comic book footsteps of Deadpool and Logan by shooting for an R-rating. It was produced on a $66 million budget and earned $99 million worldwide.
Patty Mills finished with 20 points for the night and could've hit the game victor if he didn't run out of time. Now, without Tony Parker, and eventually without Kawhi, they got the Ginobili of old. He stepped on Harden's foot while running back in transition with 5:37 left in the third quarter and then played limited minutes before sitting out overtime. He had a left ankle and knee injuries. Game 6, 8 p.m., ESPN.
Spurs' Patty Mills (08) closely defends Houston Rockets' Trevor Ariza (01) in Game 3 at the Toyota Center on Friday, May 5, 2017.
If Leonard can not go Thursday, or if he is limited in any fashion, it clearly enhances the chances of the Rockets forcing a Game 7. If Kawhi Leonard can stay healthy the Spurs should beat the Rockets in six games.
