Upon news of "Last Man Standing's" cancellation, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker tweeted to Allen, "Looks like @ABC is playing politics with your show despite decent ratings".
Of all the series that ABC recently canceled - including "Dr. Ken", "The Catch", "The Real O'Neals" and "American Crime" - there's one that was particularly contentious. "It's family friendly. We're not holier than thou who did it this way, but it is a very different situation when you have a show that the whole family can watch together", Allen told UPI in a phone interview a year ago.
"'Last Man Standing' was a challenging one for me, because it was a steady performer", said Channing Dungey, ABC Entertainment President. That's more viewers than some other ABC series that have been invited back, including "black-ish", "Shark Tank" and "The Goldbergs", which just scored a two-year renewal for a fifth and sixth season. "If you want to help try to save 'Last Man Standing, ' I encourage you to do the same".
A family comedy, Last Man Standing centers on Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a marketing director for the Outdoor Man sporting goods stores.

Over the past couple of weeks, networks have been sharpening their axes and clearing out shows to make room for new programs. Next season, ABC will open the night with former Sunday staple Once Upon a Time, followed by Marvel drama Inhumans (and subsequently Agents of SHIELD.) Both Once and SHIELD have a 22-episode seasons and will be followed at 10 p.m.by Shark Tank.
Fans of the show, however, have accused the network of canceling "Last Man Standing" over Allen's politics.
Actor Tim Allen has been outspoken about his conservative political views, and now some think he's being punished for that. "Let them hear our voices".
Fans of the show weren't convinced, and they might have reason to wonder. "Sad", wrote Wisconsin governor Scott Walker.
The hashtag #BoycottABC was trending on Twitter Monday in response to the network's decision not to renew Last Man Standing for a seventh season. ABC hasn't given a reason for the show's sudden cancellation.
