Earlier this week there were several news reports that Trump made the request regarding Flynn during a February meeting in the Oval Office.
"I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go", Trump told Comey, according to the memo.
Miller's suggestion carries weight not just because of his extensive background at DOJ and in government, but also because he predicted that Comey left a paper trail of his interactions with Trump.
"There is no collusion between certainly myself and my campaign, but I can always speak for myself and the Russians, zero".
"I think it's totally ridiculous", the president replied. "Russian Federation is fine, but whether it's Russian Federation or anybody else, my total priority, believe me, is the United States of America".
When asked about his decision to fire former FBI Director James Comey, the President said it was the right thing to do and that it's time for the Bureau to have a new leader.
That directly contradicts what Rosenstein told senators on Thursday: That he knew Trump planned to fire Comey as of the Monday after that hearing, and wrote his memo to justify that firing.
Trump is both publicly and privately stewing about Rosenstein's decision to name a special counsel.
"Director Comey was very unpopular with most people", he said.

"There was no collusion", he said. "And everybody, even my enemies, have said there is no collusion", he said.
"This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!"
With growing calls from largely Democratic lawmakers that the Trump administration could no longer credibly conduct any investigation into Russian Federation in the midst of Comey's ouster, Mueller was thrust into the picture.
Trump last week fired Comey, who was overseeing the FBI investigation into whether anyone associated with Trump's campaign cooperated with Russian intelligence officials in their effort to influence the 2016 presidential election.
Flynn was forced to resign in February after it was disclosed that he misled Vice President Mike Pence about the nature of his conversations with Russia's U.S. ambassador.
Representative Carlos Curbelo, a Florida Republican, said on CNN that Trump's dismissal of the investigation as a "witch hunt" was "unfortunate". "You can't let them get you down, can't let the critics and the naysayers get in the way of your dreams".
Trump fired Comey May 9, in part, Trump said later, because the Russian investigation was dragging on. "We have to get back to running this country really, really well". "I think it shows division, and it shows that we're not together as a country".
"As far as I can recall, maybe one month or two months before the Trump administration had an official ban on laptops on airlines from seven middle Eastern counties and it was connected directly with the terrorist threat", Lavrov added.
