Unsuspecting Walmart customer takes down startled deer

The confused white-tailed deer entered the store at around 7.30pm local time in the big-box store in Wadena, 150 miles northwest of Minneapolis, police said, causing commotion as it galloped down the aisles.

A deer somehow loose inside a Minnesota Walmart was caught by a shopper with his bare hands on Tuesday.

Grasswick held the deer down, pinning it with his legs, while covering its eyes to keep it calm, before teaming up with other customers to take it outside and release it.

"We were in the pet aisle when we heard what sounded like shelves falling, then a woman screaming", Koljonen told KARE-TV.

"It felt like i got slugged or something", Grasswick told WDAY-TV.

Tom Grasswick, the man in the picture snapped by Koljonen, said he reacted on instinct when the deer ran into him. Shoppers say the little deer's wild deal hunt was likely a search for a snack.
