Comey, who was sacked by Trump on May 9, repeatedly stated that Trump has lied in his accounts of their interactions.
Trump, fielding questions from reporters during a news conference with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis in the Rose Garden Friday, denied asking Comey to "let go" of the FBI's investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who resigned in February following reports that he had not been truthful about his communications with the Russian ambassador to the United States.
Immediately after the testimony he said it was clear that Mr Trump "never, in form or substance, directed or suggested that Mr Comey stop investigating anyone". "When [my father] tells you to do something, guess what, there's no ambiguity in it".
Trump abruptly fired Comey as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation on May 9, admitting later that the Russian Federation probe was on his mind at the time.
"I didn't say that", Trump said at the presser on Friday. "He is eager to continue to move forward with his agenda", said Marc Kasowitz, hired by Trump as his personal lawyer to deal with issues linked to the Russian Federation investigation, after Comey's statement was released.
Comey's testimony provided several bruising moments for Trump. "And so as I said a month or so ago, I expect to see them back in 2018, and especially in 2020", Comey told the Senate Intelligence Committee. It's so hard to know what to believe from this White House, but this clip indicates, at the very least, that there are serious communication problems within the upper strata of the Trump administration, and even within the First Family.
One dead, two missing, others hurt in Wisconsin corn plant explosion
The meeting came at the same time Didion Milling held a press conference to announce tragic news about the plant explosion. UPDATE: Authorities say a third body has been recovered from the debris of an exploded corn mill in southern Wisconsin.
A 30-second ad created by the pro-Trump Great America Alliance - a non-profit "issues" group that doesn't have to disclose its donors - cast Comey as a "showboat" who was "consumed with election meddling" instead of focusing on fighting terrorism. No, I didn't say that.
"We will leave it to the appropriate authorities to determine if these leaks should be investigated with all the others that are being investigated", Kasowitz added.
And in North Korea, the government scolded Trump for pulling the USA out of the Paris climate agreement.
One of the reasons Comey gave for passing on his notes was that it "might prompt the appointment of a special counsel".
Trump and his outside attorney, Marc Kasowitz, have zeroed in on this and lambasted Comey for ordering the "leaks". "I was sacked in some way to change, or the endeavor was to change the way the Russian Federation investigation was being conducted".
Trump's private attorney, Marc Kasowitz, seized on the admission, casting the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director as one of the "leakers" set on undermining the Trump administration.
