Iran claims to have killed planner of Tehran terror attacks

Iran has arrested nearly 50 people in connection with twin attacks on Tehran that killed 17 people last week, officials said, as security forces stepped up efforts to crack down on suspected militants.

Daesh has claimed responsibility for the suicide bombings and gun attacks on parliament and the mausoleum of the Islamic Republic's founder, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, on Wednesday.

Larijani further thanked officials of many countries and their parliaments who immediately condemned the terrorist attacks on Tehran and extended condolences to the Iranian nation, adding "Saudis, who organized a generous conference in Riyadh to "isolate" Iran, need to feel ashamed and take notes of the solidarity voiced by so many countries for Iran".

On Tehran's enmity with Washington, the Iranian leader said "Some of the problems with the United States are essentially unresolvable as the US's problem with us has nothing to do with nuclear energy or human rights, their problem is with the principle of the Islamic Republic".

But the isolation that started on June 5 has forced Qatar to look at new friends to import food and other materials . In a phone conversation with the Saudi king, the Russian leader cautioned against anti-Qatar measures.

He added that the mastermind of the operation, who had fled the country, was killed by Iranian security forces with help from friendly intelligence services.

IRNA news agency quoted a member of Majlis Presiding Board Akbar Ranjbarzadeh, as saying that Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi and Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli as well as the IRGC Deputy Commander presented more details about the recent twin simultaneous attacks hitting the Iranian parliament and Mausoleum of Imam Khomeini in the south of Tehran, killing 17 and wounding 52.

Iranian authorities have also arrested seven people it suspects of helping militants involved in attacks, a judiciary official said on Saturday.

Iran says the attackers, who were all killed, had fought for the IS group in Syria and neighboring Iraq.

Press TV also stated that Iran's intelligence forces had neutralized over 25 terrorist cells in the country over the past few months.
