Microsoft says Xbox One X's steep price tag won't turn a profit

Indeed, if you compare the Xbox One X to a comparable gaming PC, its $500 price starts to look like a bargain. It and the original Xbox One will have all the same features as the X. This includes access to all the same games (even backwards compatible titles from Microsoft's 7th and 6th gen consoles), the same apps, and so on.

I look at Pro as more of a competitor to S than I do to Xbox One X. This is a true 4K console. In the interview, he also revealed that Xbox One X fans would be able to enjoy 22 more Xbox exclusive games within the next 3 years.

Original Xbox games are not the only thing from the 16-year-old console to be making a comeback. To my mind, while the Xbox One X is definitely more powerful than the Pro, it is analogous.

"I do think we have an opportunity to get better in first-party and to grow", he said.

Xbox chief Phil Spencer does not think of the PlayStation 4 Pro (PS4 Pro) as a direct competitor to the just-announced Xbox One X.

Phil Spencer, Head of Xbox, announces original Xbox Backward Compatibility at the Xbox E3 2017 Briefing on Sunday, June 11, 2017 in Los Angeles.

Though the price tag for the Xbox One X is high today, it will assuredly come down over time as well. We'll have to compare games when they're released to see just how judiciously this badge is applied.

Talking with PC Gamer, Spencer was asked if we might see that same emulation on PC in the future.

According to the BBC, the new Microsoft console will be released on November 7 and will cost $ 499 (about 445 euros).

Put simply, Xbox's new premium offering has the ability to power games in native 4K, with an Ultra HD Blu-ray player, a feature Sony omitted from the Pro.

If your main objective is to get to 4K resolution and a stable framerate it's certainly a less expensive alternative to a gaming PC which could cost nearly double the $499 price tag.
