Pacquiao: Patronizing Mayweather-McGregor fight up to fans

FORMER BOXING world champion Floyd Mayweather has confirmed that he will fight UFC champion Conor McGregor in a light-middleweight boxing match in Las Vegas on 26 August.

McGregor is 12 years younger than Mayweather with a height and reach advantage and has knockout power. The purse for the fight is not being disclosed, but it is rumored that both fighters will receive a considerable boost to their net worth.

Asked if the Mayweather-McGregor fixture - which pits a boxer against a mixed martial artist - will pave the way to more cross-over challenges, Holm said: "I feel fighting is the oldest sport in the book".

While terms are still unknown, it's been reported that Mayweather would get the larger purse, potentially as high as $100 million, according to White, likely the motivation in luring him out of retirement and risking his flawless 49-0 career record. A top UFC fighter has never had a big boxing match before, and certainly not against an opponent like Mayweather.

"It'll be at the T-Mobile Centre in Vegas, it'll be at 154-pounds, they'll wear 10-0z gloves, it'll be in a ring".

Sizzling heat wave creates health hazard in southwestern US
American Airlines announced Monday that it has canceled its regional flights - approximately 20 flights - for Tuesday, June 20. A punishing heat wave has arrived in the Southwestern U.S. and brought temperatures that will approach 120 degrees in Arizona.

Mayweather's pay-per-view record eclipsed the previous best for his title fight against Oscar de la Hoya in 2007, which pulled in 2.48m.

UFC president Dana White acknowledged during a conference call Wednesday night that there is a clause in their contracts that would penalize McGregor heavily if he were to try to elbow, kick, knee or do anything else to Mayweather that would break boxing's unified rules. They're each set to earn $100 million from the fight, making it one of the most lucrative fights in history.

Specific numbers for both are yet to be determined, but a good guide to the August 26 fight would be Mayweather's bout against Manny Pacquiao in 2015. Will it probably be a boring, one-sided fight? Yes! "Obviously Conor and I have been talking a lot throughout this negotiation, and he wants to turn around and fight again this year".

"That will not happen", White said.

At this point, we have an early prediction from the bookmakers, which are saying that Floyd Mayweather is a favorite, but in an unusual match like this one, we have to add that there are no underdogs and favorites. He is notorious for mouthing off before and after fights, and has developed a massive fanbase who seem to buy into the personality as much as his dominance in the ring.
