Jigsaw features plenty of the deadly traps for which the franchise is famous.
The fine folks over at Entertainment Weekly scored themselves the first image from Lionsgate's upcoming return to the Saw franchise, Jigsaw. Tobin Bell's Jigsaw has been dead since Saw III, but his presence is going to be felt in a big way in this movie and his twisted games are going to drive the plot.
As you may remember (and as some of you have tried to forget), the Saw series told the story of Tobin Bell's John Kramer, a serial killer who went by the name Jigsaw and would teach his victims valuable life lessons by placing them in perverse and gruesome traps that would force them to overcome physical trauma or perish. That question probably doesn't matter much to Laura Vandervoort, whose character can be seen just trying to survive in the first look image below.
Floods in India's northeast kill 83 people
Animals at the Kaziranga National Park have been straying towards higher ground due to rise in water levels. Fourteen people died in the massive landslide in the Papum Pare district on Tuesday.
"We've got some pretty wild traps in the film - we don't shy away from the gore", adds co-director Michael Spierig. Their vampire movie Daybreakers is one of the cleverest horror movies of the past decade and their deranged science fiction film Predestination is begging for a cult following. The director, known for Daybreakers and Undead, then quips with "It's such a flawless Halloween scarefest" - I like the sound of that. Saw 8, officially titled Jigsaw, is set to scare its way into theaters on October 27, 2017, and, oddly, we still don't know a whole lot about it and we haven't seen a shred of footage. The Saw movies are junk, but there's nothing wrong with good junk and I think the Spierig brothers may be the guys to deliver some really, really good junk later this year. The new cast includes Mandela Van Peebles, Hannah Anderson, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, Matt Passmore, Hannah Emily Anderson, Josiah Black, Shaquan Lewis, Michael Bolsvert, and James Gomez.
Plot details for the film are sitll being kept under wraps for now, but here's the logline.
