The White Sox have reinstated right-hander Miguel Gonzalez and infielder Tyler Saladino from the disabled list, they announced Friday ahead of an evening game against the Mariners. Now he will hit second against Felix Hernandez while holding down his spot in right field. Edwin Diaz struck out a pair in a shutout 9th inning for his 15th save of the year. Melky Cabrera led the way by going 4 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs. The Mariners as a team haven't been very consistent this season either, so I like the White Sox to get the upset behind a good start at home from Holland and some timely hitting against Hernandez.
The White Sox dropped two out of three in Colorado last weekend, including a 10-0 blowout loss on Sunday. Mike Pelfrey gave up a pair of runs, one earned, on four hits while striking out a pair over 4.2 innings of work, not factoring in the decision. Anthony Swarzak blew his 2nd save opportunity of the season, taking the loss to fall to 4-3 this season. He has 78 strikeouts with 38 walks this season and a 1.52 WHIP. In his career, Holland is 13-6 with a 3.57 ERA and 135 strikeouts against Seattle. He has allowed at least five runs in five of his last seven starts.
McCain has surgery to remove blood clot
The absence of McCain would mean that a maximum of 49 votes would be available to vote "yes". Surgeons removed the blood clot during a "minimally invasive" procedure, the statement said.
Garcia is just 0-for-3 in 4 plate appearances as Chicago's number two hitter. Moore is still a relatively unknown pitcher, but Seattle is playing well enough to complete the sweep and we are getting a better price than we got on Saturday so I'll take Seattle here.
