Police received a 911 call around 7:20 p.m. Sunday evening from a woman seeking help from inside an apartment building on the 100 block of Seventh Street. The identities of the deceased will not be made public until the next of kin have been notified. The emergency call was cut off, and at about the same time, dispatchers received several other calls from nearby residents reporting gunshots.

Residents reported hearing a helicopter overhead from which people in the area were urged to take shelter in their homes, and police evacuated residents of the affected apartment building, according to postings on a Seal Beach community Facebook page.

Sometime before 2:30 a.m. Monday, SWAT officers entered a third-floor apartment and found the bodies of a man and woman.
