Brewers' Vogt lands on disabled list

Stephen Vogt has a strained MCL in his left knee and will miss at least a month, Craig Counsell says. Vogt suffered the injury when he collided with opposing pitcher Chad Kuhl on a play at the plate on Monday night.

The umpires ruled Kuhl was out and decided not to review the play, suggesting it was merely a freak accident. Kuhl was shaken up but remained in the game.

But runners are still able to smash into the catcher if they have the ball and are blocking the plate.

Seatown Holdings decreased its stake in Facebook Inc (FB) by 39.56% based on its latest 2016Q4 regulatory filing with the SEC. It increased, as 40 investors sold EQT shares while 131 reduced holdings. 85 funds opened positions while 152 raised stakes.

But Domingo Santana's throw was slightly to the catcher's left, so when he followed it with his glove, he inadvertently strayed into Kohl's line of running which resulted in the sickening clash.

Vogt was hitting.250 with four home runs and nine runs batted in 12 games since joining the Brewers claimed him off waivers from the Oakland Athletics June 25th. Kuhl was up and walking off after less than two minutes, but Vogt stayed down for more than twice that time while being tended by both of the Brewers' athletic trainers and Dr. Edward Snell, the Pirates' team physician. Vogt held onto the ball, and Kuhl was called out. But it was an ugly incident for the league, which has to deal with the bad optics and public clamors of more changes needed, and it robs a contending team of an increasingly important player - at a crucial position and during a playoff race. On Tuesday, corresponding to the move placing Vogt on the DL, Milwaukee called up catcher Jett Bandy from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Guerra is set to start the second game of the Brewers' series with the Pirates on Tuesday, and 4.78 ERA and a 1.592 WHIP in 10 starts this season.
