A suicide vehicle bomb attacked a police compound nearby Iraqi embassy in Kabul on Monday.

Witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion and seeing smoke.

Police confirmed at least one blast but said they did not immediately have further information.

US Senate gives okay to sanctions on three nations
Russia's Foreign Ministry dismissed the new sanctions as "creating unfair competitive advantages for the US economy". President Donald Trump said he would sign into law a new sanctions package that includes sanctions targeting Iran .


The attack comes just a week after at least 35 people were killed in a suicide attack on government workers in Kabul which was claimed by Taliban.

In another tragic development, multiple explosions were reported near the Afghanistan capital Kabul.

No group has officially claimed responsibility for that attack, the deadliest in the capital since the U.S. invasion in 2001.

The area has been cordoned off by security forces.
