Arsenal urged to avoid a Robin van Persie situation with Alexis Sanchez

EPL Club Preview Arsene Wenger braced for knife-edge 2017-18 season with Arsenal

Arsenal urged to avoid a Robin van Persie situation with Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez was Arsenal's leading scorer in the Premier League last season.

Arsenal could be taking a risk keeping Alexis Sanchez until the end of his contract as he might not give it his all at the risk of an injury wrecking his transfer chances, according to Danny Murphy.

The Chilean is in the final 12 months of his deal and has been linked with a move to the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

"He had a little abdominal strain that he caught on Sunday morning in training before he came to Wembley.' said Wenger".

"I'm convinced that (it) will happen soon", Wenger said when asked about the likelihood of a woman taking over a team in one of England's top two divisions.

Alexis Sanchez had supposedly previously told the club he would only consider remaining if they forked out such a high amount.

"Personally, I think he is a hugely talented player".

The Chile forward missed pre-season after being granted extra time off following the Confederations Cup and has been ruled out of Friday's game due to an abdominal strain.

"It's a long time I didn't speak to Nasser, because it's certainly very busy to complete the transfer of Neymar and it's a long time that I didn't speak to him", he said.

"He is focused. When you have treatment on the medical bench it's not easy".

"I believe that since January we have played in a very hard environment for different reasons", said Wenger.

Sanchez isn't the only injury worry for Wenger going into the season-opener against the Foxes with Mesut Ozil (ankle), Aaron Ramsey (calf) and Shkodran Mustafi (fitness) all doubts.

The German centre-back started against Chelsea in the Community Shield on Sunday but was forced off with a nasty cut above his eye so will need to be assessed ahead of the Leicester game. For example Ramsey, Ozil, (Per) Mertesacker, of course (Laurent) Koscielny is suspended.
