Victoria Azarenka of Belarus may miss out on the US Open because of the ongoing custody battle with her ex-boyfriend and the father of her eight-month-old son Leo, Laura Wasser, a lawyer of the Belarusian tennis player, told the media.
After the 2013 W&S Open champ spilt up with the boy's father last month, the father filed custody papers in Los Angeles and the judge won't allow Azarenka to take the child out of California until the matter is settled, according to TMZ. With the case set to wrap in October, Azarenka will skip the Open, which kicks off August 28 in NY, as she refuses to leave her child in the hands of her former beau.
Azarenka, a former world number one, is considered by some to be the favourite for the US Open - should she attend.
