An encounter occurred between security forces and terrorists in Awneera village of Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian on Saturday evening.
Two soldiers have been killed and three injured in the on-going gunfight in South Kashmir's Shopian district.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation on Saturday following information about presence of militants in Avneera village of Zainapora area of the district, a police official said.
The gunfight had started last night and government forces including of army's 3 RR, 55 RR and SOG had started searches to find the militant bodies. However, there is no confirmation about the number of militants killed in the operation.

As such the joint team was moving towards the target area, the militants in a bid to break the cordon fired upon them, triggering off a fierce encounter.
Earlier, one soldier was injured in a terrorist attack on an Indian Army camp in Kupwara region of J&K in the wee hours of the morning.
Police said three militants are believed to be holed up inside the village. Meanwhile, clashes between security forces and locals have also errupted near the encounter site.
