J&K: Gun battle underway between security forces, terrorists in Shopian

Yasin Yatoo alias Mehmood Ghaznavi, Hizbul Mujahideen's operational commander for Kashmir and one of the longest serving militants in the Valley, was killed in an encounter with security forces in Shopian of Jammu and Kashmir.

Two soldiers were killed and six security personnel were injured in two separate encounters in Kashmir.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation on Saturday night following information about the presence of at least five terrorists in Awneera, about 15 km from Shopian town, on Saturday afternoon, a police official said.

Two army men had lost their life in the gunfight on Saturday, while three others were injured.

Sources told India Blooms, security forces retrieved three bodies of militants from the derbies on Sunday afternoon and started identification process.
