Coastguard In Ongoing Search For Missing Diver Off Donegal

A search operation to locate a missing diver is under way near Fanad, off the coast of County Donegal.

Malin Head Coast Guard station received contact at about 4pm on Saturday that the diver was missing.

Group members on a dive boat reported him missing after failing to see him resurface.

Search efforts were stood down for the night and resumed on Sunday morning.

It was unclear why Major League Baseball did not push Friday's postponed game to Saturday afternoon, when the skies were clear. The start of the game was delayed three hours, one minute by rain Saturday and there was a light rain in the first inning.

"A full scale search was initiated by the Malen Head rescue coordination centre involved was the Lough Swilly RNLI lifeboat, the Sligo bay coastguard helicopter and a number of other local vessels".

The Donegal Mountain Rescue Team is coordinating the search.

RTÉ reports that it was parked at Lough Barra on the western outskirts of Glenveagh National Park.
