Bail was set at $2 million for two western Montana residents who are charged in the stabbing deaths of two people whose bodies were found in plastic tubs of chemicals in the basement of a Missoula home.

They were both charged with deliberate homicide and accountability to deliberate homicide over the deaths of a man and a woman on 1 August.

According to CBS News, the suspects have not yet entered pleas.

Pierce and Standingrock tried to destroy the bodies of the victims by putting them in tubs with chemicals that prosecutors say were purchased by Pierce, prosecutors said.

"There's no combination of (release conditions) that would ensure that members of our community would be safe", Missoula County Attorney Kirsten Pabst told Justice of the Peace Marie Andersen on Monday, according to Time. He said he witnessed Pierce and her boyfriend Standingrock taking showers to wash the blood from their bodies, the Missoulian reported Monday. Pierce attacked the other to prevent them from escaping. After the roommate reported the incident, police acquired a search warrant for the couple's home on Strand Avenue in Missoula.

US refuses to pause drills as North Korea vows 'merciless retaliation'
It has been 27 days since North Korea's latest missile launch and 14 days since a US B-1 bomber flew above the peninsula. China, North Korea's main ally and trading partner, has urged both countries to scrap the exercises.

During the search, authorities discovered an axe and knives covered in blood and human remains.

She reportedly told the roommate that Standingrock had brought two people over and took them to the basement and attacked one of them.

In addition, Pierce also is being probed for a home invasion and stabbing that happened last month, according to Missoula cops. He informed investigators that Pierce showed up at work later in the week and told him she "killed a couple people last night".

Court records cited by NewsTalk KGVO indicate that Standingrock has been in trouble with the law in the past, including five years ago when he was arrested for beating a man with a crowbar and trying to stab him.
