One person was killed and two injured when three slabs of a partly demolished seven-storied building crashed here on Saturday evening, officials said.
"According to the Newspaper, The fire brigade was informed and rescue operations began immediately", said an officer with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.Police secures siteEight fire engines, a rescue van and a quick response vehicle, along with several ambulances were sent to the spot, while the police secured the site to prevent interference by onlookers. He put the number of people feared trapped inside at around five.
The victim has been identified as Gaurav, a 20-year-old labourer. A JCB machine and a Poclain machine (used for gathering and lifting soil or debris) were also trapped under the debris, he said. Two people have been rescued so far.

A portion of a three-storeyed dilapidated building today collapsed at Dongri in South Mumbai, leaving one person injured, police said.
