Brian Michael Bendis Leaves Marvel For DC

He co-created the "Ultimate Spider-Man" which ushered in the now-destroyed Ultimate Marvel Universe with modern incarnations of familiar characters.

It will be interesting to see who will be replacing Bendis in the four titles he is now writing and when they will come.

Marvel Entertainment has provided a statement regarding Brian Michael Bendis' DC "exclusive" deal announced earlier on Tuesday.

Now further bad news comes from a rumor stating Bendis will actually be involved with the DC movie universe and other DC media. I am bursting with ideas and inspirations. We wish him luck in his future endeavors and, like DC, can't wait to see what he can do with a fresh slate of characters.

So Bendis didn't like that and bailed on Marvel, which also had to do with the fact that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige fired him and Ike Perlmutter's Marvel Comics Creative Committee from being involved with the movies due to causing major interference and problems.

Brian Michael Bendis has always been among the chief writers at Marvel Comics having created some of the most popular 21st century characters, including Jessica Jones, Miles Morales the Ultimate Spider-Man, and Riri Williams, aka Ironheart. "Details to come! Stay tuned!" he continued.

I was also told by people who worked on the 2008 Guardians of the Galaxy book and Marvel COSMIC at the time that Bendis was jealous of how popular Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning were getting with fans. Starting with Ultimate Spider-Man in 2000 with artist Mark Bagley, he went on to write an acclaimed run on Daredevil, a nine-year Avengers saga that began with Avengers Disassembled and New Avengers, and several events, including House of M, Secret Invasion, Age of Ultron, and last year's Civil War II. No indication was given as to when he will depart those titles or when he will start work at DC.
